Established in 2000, Mertens Heavy Equipment Repair, LLC opened the door for business.

After 30 years as a heavy equipment mechanic, Bob Mertens, along with his wife, Pat decided to buy a field service truck and go into business for themselves. Working out of a small office off the garage at the back of their house.

Not long after, a second service truck was purchased and Bob’s son, Robert came to work. Following was the purchase of a lube truck and Bob’s son-n-law, Chris Newberry came to work.  Seeing the opportunity to grow, Bob decided to start transporting equipment and a semi-truck and trailer were soon added to the fleet and Ron Tanner joined the team as Transport Manager. Now with the ability to haul equipment, the decision to start a rental fleet was made and Howard Brassfield was hired as the Rental/ Sales Manager. With all the equipment being serviced for our customers and our own fleet growing, Dennis Sparks was added as the Parts Manager.

As their customer base grew so did the demand for mechanics, transport drivers, lube, tire techs and equipment.

With nine field service trucks, specializing in on-site repairs, major and minor for all makes of heavy equipment. Mobile line-boring for center pivot pins, frames, booms, buckets and masts.

Two custom lube trucks for on-site oil changes, fueling and maintenance services. One tire truck for on-site tire repair or replacement.

Four transport trucks and several trailers serving all of Arizona.

Equipment rentals of all sizes, operated or bare. Air Compressors, Backhoes, Dozers, Lifts, Excavators, Generators, Light Towers, Loaders, Motor Graders, Rollers, Skid Steers and everything in between, with daily, weekly and monthly rates available.

A large inventory of parts in stock for all makes and aftermarket parts as low as 50% of manufacturer retail available. In August 2018 with a total of 22 full time employees, Mertens took the next step, moved from the little office and purchased a property that would accommodate all of their current and future needs.
